John Spear grew up in the pool business. His father started Spear Pool Service in 1961. At the ripe old age of 10, John began helping his father during summer vacations. In 1971 John obtained his L.A. County Health License for swimming pool service. John decided he enjoyed the work, but wanted to do more to create beautiful, ergonomic and complete pool and spa systems that were easier to maintain while keeping the aesthetics and enjoyment in the forefront. John took and passed the California Contractor's License Exam and became certified in 1977.

Over 4 decades, and dozens of pools later, John Spear is still supervising every job personally.
